We all used the print-screen button in the Windowsto take screen shots in windows at some point. We have to press the button, then go to Paint and press “Paste” and then select it to be saved as a PNG or a JPEG file format. Some times a keyboard doesn’t come with a print-screen button, then what would you do ? Here are 3 Ways to Screenshot on Windows 10 Without Print Screen.
Method 1: Remap Print Screen
There are some tools you can use, like SharpKeys, and KeyTweak to remap the keys in Windows. In this case, you would remap some other button on your keyboard which you use less often like Power or Media Play to the Print Screen.
I personally would not suggest you to do this, unless you are absolutely sure that you will never use the remapped key, and even then i would look to another method first. Check out the guide from makeuseof if you want to learn more on remapping your keys.
Method 2: Use the Snipping Tool
This is a very easy thing to do. Windows comes with a pre-installed tool called the Snipping Tool. Using it, you can snap quick screenshots of the individual windows, the entire screen, or custom regions of the screen. It is actually very useful, but many do not know about it.
Just open the Start Menu and search for ‘Snipping Tool’ and click on it to launch. As simple as that.
Method 3: Use a Third-Party Tool
This is my favorite method. All you got to do is just install a free screenshot tool . Currently I an using Greenshot, but there are many others out there which are worth trying, and then change its keyboard shortcut to whatever you want.
My current setup is :
- Ctrl + Shift + 3 for the fullscreen screenshot.
- Ctrl + Shift + 4 for the current window screenshot.
I have no Print Screen button but screenshots are easier than ever.
