Shortcut virus, one of the worse things I came through, it turned all files and folders into shortcuts which I kept in my pendrive. I didn’t knew about this virus and clicked on those shortcuts to know what happened to my files, boom my PC got also infected after that whenever I any send files to my pendrive from windows PC all got turned into shortcuts. Shortcut virus mainly spread through USB drives (Pendrive, memory cards and external hard disks). Once you connect any drive to infected computer for file transfer, automatically the external drive also gets infected. How to remove shortcut virus from PC
Even if you completely wiped all shortcut virus from USB drives there is a good chance your PC may be infected. So it is a good check with antivirus like Malware bytes, Kaspersky or some other. I used these both they gave me good results to get rid of shortcut virus
1. Install Malwarebytes antimalware or Kaspersky Internet security
2. Update the antivirus database to the latestPerform a complete scan to get rid of from malware
3. Perform a complete scan to get rid of from malware
